Anzac Day

Today it is Anzac Day in Australia. It is a day of remembrance, a day of thanks, a day of celebration and a day of goodwill.
This morning there would have been many dawn services held. Many young ones getting up before the sun to remember the men that fought and died for us. It's good to know that the new generations will never forget those brave men and women.
My Dad was in the Navy in England. He was killed during anti-piracy action just before my first birthday. It wasn't during a war, but just the same..he was serving his country, just as the Anzacs did.

My love to all the families who lost a loved one. Lest we forget

Karen, such a special and also sad day for you!
I'm so glad that you posted this blog, and also his photo, what a good looking man he was.
It's nice to think, among all the sadness, that he is now together again with your Mum!
You're absolutely right, this day is as much for him as for all other brave souls who defended this country and this world!

What a nice tribute to your Dad. I didn't realize he'd died while serving in the Navy. Sad that you never really got to know him. It's so good to pause for a moment and remember all those men and women who died trying to make the world safer for the rest of us.
